Nebraskan sculptor Fred Hoppe has been creating works of art for more than 30 years. Displayed throughout the United States, his works include monument-size bronze sculptures of wildlife and war veterans. Fred Hoppe received his education from Nebraska Western and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. In 2012 Hoppe received the Outstanding Alumni of Year Award from Nebraska Western.
An advocate for honoring 20th century United States veterans, Hoppe founded and designed the Veterans Memorial Museum in Branson, Missouri. Since opening in 2000, the museum has housed thousands of military artifacts and sculptures, including the world’s largest bronze war memorial sculpture. Hoppe’s creation, a 15-ton, 70-foot-long exhibit of 50 soldiers, contains detailed faces of actual war veterans from each state.
Fred Hoppe has received numerous accolades throughout his career, including more than 100 national and international awards for his work in both bronze sculpture and museum exhibits. In addition, the Veterans Task Force named his museum “the greatest tribute ever built to honor the veterans of the 20th century.” The artist also recently won the State of Tennessee’s Medal of Freedom.
